CMOSC is a non-profit founded in 2005 by Collette Michaud. After nine years of laying the groundwork, the Children’s Museum in Sonoma County, CA. opened for business in March of 2014. We serve families with children from ages 1-10.
Some of our workforce management challenges lie around managing projects, because we rarely have all of the stakeholders in the office at the same time. Because half of our museum is outdoors, it can be very difficult dealing with the elements, particularly the heat. So we try to manage rotating shifts in various areas of the museum, while still allowing for administrative time.
We have somewhat complicated scheduling needs, even though we only have 12 employees. I spend a fair bit of time in ShiftPlanning every week. I like that it is pretty customizable. Being able to input as many different job assignments as I want is very useful and things are easy to change. The color options help a lot in knowing what areas I have covered and which are still unassigned.
