We receive the tons of requests from users whether ShiftPlanning can be used for scheduling 24 hour shifts (or greater).
With ease our platform can handle Shifts up to forty-seven hours and fort-five minutes; and we’re working to add functionality in the future for shifts that span more than this time (2 days).
Really shifts of this length our essentially just extra long overnight shifts. Let’s take a look at what this looks like:
You can create overnight shifts in both month view, as well as day/week mode. I’m only going to cover it here in Month mode, please refer to this link for full details on overnight shifts.
In month mode you simply click and drag your mouse from one day cell to the next to create the overnight shift:
When you let go your shift will be created between the two days:
Now that your shift has been created you can edit the start and end time’s to whatever you need. Let’s use 7am-7am as an example:
Chances are if you’re running 24 hour shifts, they’re repeating daily, and if you’re like us and don’t like to do more work than required, then you’ll want to use the shift repeat functionality to repeat the shift for a week(or longer) for example:
