ShiftPlanning offers an online software solution that makes scheduling faster and more efficient without compromising accuracy or detail.
Schedule conflicts are inevitable, but keeping them to a minimum is crucial. Spending less time finding schedule conflicts, resolving the conflicts and furthermore communicating resulting schedule changes to all involved parties will give management staff more time to focus on more important business tasks. ShiftPlanning’s integrated software works in real time and automatically detects scheduling conflicts before they are made, displaying them on the manager’s scheduling screen. The application will alert you of the conflicts so that you can take the necessary actions to resolve the conflicts before the schedule is published and your employees are notified of their shifts.
Conflicts may arise when an employee holds more than one position in the company and those positions are scheduled for the same day, or an employee is scheduled for an overlapping shift. Similarly, conflicts may arise if an individual is scheduled to work past the maximum number of weekly hours, set in your global settings under the ‘Admin’ tab. Another example of a scenario where a shift conflict may occur, is when an employee is scheduled while they are approved for vacation or their availability shows that they are unavailable for the shift.
When conflicts arise, the red dotted box appears around the shift where the conflict lies. To determine what the conflict is due to, click on the action / settings gear icon, then ‘Schedule Conflicts’ to show a list like below. Hovering your mouse over the conflict from the list will highlight the shift causing the conflict. This example shows a scenario where a staff member was booked on overlapping shifts, as he holds two positions that were scheduled for the same time.
