To use ShiftPlanning’s biometric time clock feature and webcam functionality you will both need an installed web camera and the Adobe Flash player installed on your web browser.
To prevent buddy-clocking and to provide an affordable biometric time clocking device a web-cam may be required for time-clocking. This in combination with the time clock locations ensures that you are both on location and who you say you are.
First, you need to enable the webcam feature and indicate that employees must use the webcam when they clock in and out of their shifts. Go to the ‘Admin’ tab and mark the check box next to the line ‘Employees must use webcam when they clock in & out’ under the ‘Time Clock Settings’ subheading. If this option is selected, managers will have the option to view the biometric timestamps left by their staff during punch times.
First Time Webcam Setup
The first time you use a webcam for time-clocking there are a few simple steps that need to be followed. First, go to the ‘Time Clock’ tab.
Allow Webcam Access
Select the radio button to allow ShiftPlanning access to your webcam. It is also recommend that you select the check-box to remember this for future time-clocks.
Select Your Webcam
Select your webcam from the drop down list. If you are unsure of which one is the right one you can always right click on the Flash Player and select “Choose Webcam” to select another. Most commonly it will be called ‘USB Camera’. (You will only have to do this once)
Clocking In & Out With A Webcam
Once your webcam is set up, your webcam will automatically turn on when you click on the ‘Time Clock’ tab. To clock in, click the green ‘Capture’ button. The webcam will capture a picture and clock you into (or out of) your shift, simultaneously.
We hope our biometric time clock feature is a useful tool that strengthens and improves your business.
