We have a large number of employees and over 800 shifts per week.

We do a lot of "shift browsing" and it would be really helpful if SP had a way of locking the shifts (like a read-only mode) so that we don't have to worry about moving shifts around by accident.

A lock button - sort of like what Photoshop has on individual layers - would help mitigate any errors we could potentially make in managing schedules.

I have only been using this program for two weeks and it has greatly made better use of my time. One item I would like to see/request is a report that shows the number of dropped / traded shifts by employee/volunteer with the ability to view the dates they dropped or traded shifts. If this could be filtered by week, month, year and even by department would be great. A quick glance under the employees profile statistics to show the number of dropped shifts, trades and pickups would also be a time saver. This report / snapshot would help to determine an employee’s / volunteer's prospect with the organization.

This would also be simplified if I could assign needed skilled to open shifts, since my shifts are very skill specific.

A nice feature on the "Manage Timesheets" view would be to have the option to narrow the view of clocked-in employees by location.  Currently, the only option you have is to narrow it by the schedule, but for locations with multiple schedules, it can become tedious.

I have an employee who requested some trades and then realized she put in the wrong days. How do I cancel her request? or can she?

Managers have always had the ability to remove trade request simply by rejecting it from the management screen. We've now also given employees the ability to cancel their own requests. All of this happens under 'Schedule' -> 'Trades'

It would be great if there was an option to have ShiftPlanning not allow a shift to be scheduled if there is not a minimum of X amount of time between shifts. We operate 24/7 so we have both a 10pm-6am shift as well as a 6am to 2pm shift. We have had issues where we schedule an employee for both shifts as no conflict appears.

Alternatively, if the application could better support overnight shifts - so once a shift hits midnight, it automatically will count towards that day so trying to schedule an employee would cause Shiftplanning to alert you that "employee already scheduled" when trying to schedule them.

We leave specific details on the tasks for the particular shift in the notes section, but since they don't print on the crib sheet, the Manager on Duty has to login to Shiftplanning to see what each employee is tasked to do during their shift...and this is not always possible.  Having the info right in the crib sheet would be super helpful.

There needs to be a mechanism for holding Employees, Schedulers, and Supervisors accountable for their actions. I.e: who created, assigned, or re-assigned what shift, who logged-in when, and even more importantly who clocked-in / overrode information / etc.

For starters, it would be enough if this information was available at the administrator level only. Any chance of seeing something like this soon? Without at least a rudimentary solution, I am afraid this would be a deal-breaker.

It would be great to view the availability of selected users in a report. Let's say I want to see the availability of one employee in a given date range. If I'm correct, now the only way to see if an employee is available for a given day is in the schedule editor.

It would be an awesome feature if, based on employee availability, we could have an algorithm fill the schedule with employees we select.  The algorithm should take into account vacation and times they can and can't work.  It would be more amazing if we as managers could select the specific set of individuals to assign, or the entire batch (i.e. 5 specific employees for this set of shifts out of 30 employees, or 30 people for this set of shifts out of 30 employees).  Beyond that it would be fantastic if the assigned shifts would be as close to equal hours as possible.  For example, if there are 80 hours of shifts to fill and 20 people, everyone should get as close to 4 hours as possible, some may be over, or under depending on the length of shifts, but close to the average.  Tweaking could be done after the auto assign as needed and then sent to employees.

On a separate, but related note, it would be awesome if employees could also state their preferences, outside of availability.  It would be nice if they could say they prefer to work a certain time, and not work another time, (or no preference) but still be "available" to work.  Those preferences could then be incorporated into the the above request as well.  Assigning shifts to "preferred" times first, then to "no preference", and then finally to "prefer NOT to work"... this would be a great way to keep all our employee's happy.

Currently, if there is an open shift and working it would put the employee into overtime, they don't even have the option of requesting to work the shift. The scheduler or supervisor can assign them there, but they can't request to work.

I need for my employees to be able to request to work an open shift, regardless of the OT status. Almost always, the open shift will be OT for the person working it, so this is completely necessary. It's fine (nice even) if it shows that the person would be on OT, but they have to be able to request to work that time slot.

* We assign shift requests by seniority and priority. Supervisors approving shifts need to know which employee has seniority and which employee has a higher preference for the shift (priority).

* We schedule 6 months at a time. We would need a way to limit the shifts on screen.

I would like the option to turn off certain views within the schedule tab so that my employees can see only the specific views that work out best for viewing schedules (as in being able to see shift without initials so being able to turn off Employee View). This could be done by going to the Admin Tab under Account Settings and have a box to check which views the Manager would want available. Alternately, being able to set our own Default View of the Schedule would work out too. Currently I use Position and Month and I would like my employees to be able to see that view themselves when they log in and then have the option to change views if they'd like, since Position Month makes the most sense in my Organization - Not Employee Week which is auto default.
