What's new in your ShiftPlanning employee scheduler

Our development team has been busy working hard to update our app to incorporate all of your requests. There were a few highly anticipated features that just barely didn't make it into this release as they still require a bit more time testing. So what did make it in?

New Calendar Views

There has been an incredible level of input from our users on new/different calendar views that you would like to see. We've been working hard to meet your requests and this release has some exciting new views.

Overview - See an overview of all Dept schedules at once within your scheduler.

Un-approved - View only shifts that need approval.

Employees - Quickly filter and view shifts by employee(s) and not by Schedule.

Vacations - View at a glance all scheduled employee vacations.

Birthdays - View employee birthdays within your calendar.

Custom Week Start

The ShiftPlanning calendar defaults to display Sunday -> Saturday. This was a limiting factor, and you now have the option to customize the start between Saturday, Sunday or Monday. More details here.

Silently Add Employees

By default whenever you add an employee ShiftPlanning will automatically send out a welcome e-mail to them. This notification includes their account activation instructions as well as all the information they need to get started with ShiftPlanning.

What about if you want to demo/configure ShiftPlanning without notifying your employees? You now can! It's a simple checkbox option in the Add Employee form, and you can send these notifications out at any time afterwards. Full details are here.

Keyboard Shortcuts

We've added a few handy keyboard short cuts to help you save even more time when scheduling. 'Few' is a key word, as we only added a few for what we felt were the essentials to get started, and look forward to your feedback for others that you would like to see.

Esc - Closes any open Dialog Box
Ctrl+Left - Moves the Calendar Back ( same as Ctrl+Up)
Ctrl + Right - Moves the Calendar Back ( same as Ctrl+Down)

Shift Colors

We've added several new color options for shifts.
